Accepted Students Day is here!

DON'T FORGET TO COME SEE ME TODAY! I WILL BE MEANDERING AT LUNCH-- SAY HI!

Ever wonder what music people listen to at W&L?

I thought I'd take a minute to share with you all some of my favorite music these days. Just click on the band name to listen to some of their songs.

Also,  these are possibly the best music videos I've ever seen:

I hope you enjoy! More to come.

EXAMS ARE OVER!

It's finally over. Winter term is FINALLY over. I have never taken such hard classes in my life, and frankly, I am glad to be finished. Genetics? Check. Multivariable Calculus? Check. Neuroscience? Check. Environmental Studies? Check. Exam week was a very stressful one-- studying around the clock, having no idea what I was doing, bringing my entire coffee pot with me to the science library (at least 10 cups a day, at least). But it is over, and I am at home relaxing and napping. Next week my family and I will be going to North Carolina's Outer Banks for some time on the beach, fishing and maybe, if the weather is nice and I am lucky, some time on the boat. While W&L is gorgeous, I am reminded how beautiful Fredericksburg is when I return (just look at the view from my room!).

Admissions Letters

It's that time! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE STUDENTS ACCEPTED TO THE W&L CLASS OF 2013! Your hard work has paid off and your wait has ended. Now, the hard part begins: choosing what admission offer you are going to accept. I would like to meet each and every one of you on Accepted Students Day (especially some of my avid blog-followers!), so please feel free to get in touch with me through email if you need ANYTHING while you are here- naughtonn@wlu.edu. I can give you a tour, answer your questions, show you around the dorms, let you know where the party's at, or just reminisce about how great your 4 years here will be. Don't be scared to get in touch with me. Should you decide to accept your offer to W&L, you will never regret it. This place is amazing and you will have the time of your life (while learning, getting a good job, and all that ermm.. important.. stuff, too). Congrats!

FANCY DRESS!

This weekend is the 102nd annual FANCY DRESS BALL! I will be picking up my date from JMU Saturday morning, followed by dinner at Sigma Phi Epsilon, the dance itself, and then after parties I am sure. I am very excited; however, one more day of classes stands in my way! I am going to get back to work, so that I can get all my work done and really enjoy the entire weekend.

W&L has a CREW team!?

Hello everyone! I know, it's been a while. Since I've gotten back from Washington break, I have been inundated with work. I have, however, picked up a new sport-- ROWING! On an extremely impulsive afternoon, I decided to go to the W&L club crew team's practice... and I loved it. I've been going to practice for a week now, and let me just say, my lats, delts and back are going to be ripped after several weeks of this. The team is filled with great people and I enjoy the laid back, but still competitive environment. Who knows, maybe I'll be good at it? Today is our first day out of the water, and while they assured me it is nearly impossible to flip the boat, I think they are underestimating me. They keep telling me that being out on the water will 'sell me' to the sport, and I hope it does, because I'm really enjoying it so far. Wish me luck! More to come.
